Why Africa Has Become a Bush Priority

Time Magazine is not exactly a bastion of liberalism, and even they are now saying that Libera is all about oil. Others are not so sure, “here”:http://www.balloon-juice.com/archives/002775.html and “here”:http://www.poorschmuck.net/archives/007454.html.

Sooner or later, someone is going to write about the Bush administration shutting down Medicare and Social Security becasuse these institutions are known to provide “comfort and aid” to terrorists. Not to mention schools, as they train all those terrorists in the first place, and as for those liberal universites which go on and on about oil and terrorism, they will have to be daisy cuttered out of existense.

The Middle East is no longer the only region where U.S. policy is driven by oil and terrorism

….But while AIDS, trade, investment, democracy, development and the moral obligation of preventing mass bloodshed may dominate many of the speeches, Mr. Bush is first and foremost a national-security president. His agenda in Africa remains grounded in his priority of defending the realm, and the increased U.S. engagement in Africa is driven by two familiar strategic concerns: Oil and terrorism.
